This website sets out how eligible persons can access
Life Assurance,
Mortgage Protection Cover and
Travel Insurance, using the Insurance Scheme set up by the Irish government for persons with State Acquired Hepatitis C and/or HIV who were infected by blood or blood products.
The most important aspect of the Scheme is that there is no financial penalty for having State Acquired Hepatitis C and/or HIV. This means that individuals who take out insurance under this scheme will only pay the standard premium to the Insurer, irrespective of existing health conditions.

The cover can be provided by any Insurance Company that has applied to and been approved by the Administrator.

The implementation and operation of the Insurance Scheme is governed by Hepatitis C Compensation Tribunal (Amendment) Act (No.22) of 2006 and Statutory Instrument (Regulations No. 31) of 2007.
